©2010 www.nelsoncountylife.com : People grabbed a glass Saturday afternoon as Wintergreen Winery held a soft opening of The Verandah, their new event facility.

The folks over at Wintergreen Winery opened their newest event facility this past weekend, The Verandah. We told you about it here in our April 2010 printed issue of Nelson County Life Magazine.
The Rogan Brothers Band were on hand to help Wintergreen Winery salute the opening, their 17th anniversary. Junior Publisher, Adam Stafford, approved!
Even with rainy skies a threat, no worries! The band just moved under the covered porch and kept on playing. One of the beauties of the new facility.
Blue Ridge Medical Center will host its Reach Out for Rural Health next month at The Verandah on May 21st at 6:30 PM. It’s one of the first large events at the facility.
Congrats to Wintergreen Winery on 17 years! And, The Verandah!

No other way to describe it, perfect. The first day of spring was beautiful and warm! 80° to be exact! Ideal for the 2010 Snowvivor Spring Fling at Wintergreen Winery!
Merideth Young (far right) from Heards and her peeps toast to a sunny day and good-bye to a very tough winter!
Mississippi Conjure stepped up on stage after Hobojac to keep the spring tunes going!
The entire event was a day of fun that developed after the brutal winter folks here in Nelson experienced after 5 feet of snow. CBS-19 Chief Meteorologist, Travis Koshko came out to the celebration to assure folks that winter is on its way out, though we may have a few days of cold weather left, maybe even a snowflake! No! Yes, it has snowed here in April several times, so let’s not get too cocky, just yet!
Junior Publisher, Adam Stafford, decided it was nice enough to dance to a little Hobojac.

Photos By Tommy Stafford : ©2010 www.nelsoncountylife.com : Folks pitched in Tuesday to help Wintergreen Winery head toward the finish line with The Verandah event facility that will open in just a few weeks.

In just a few weeks Wintergreen Winery will showcase its latest addition to the public, The Verandah. The large event facility was built to accommodate special events, weddings, rehearsals, parties etc.
Jeff Stone, owner and winemaker at Wintergreen Winery locates a stud in the wall while his father-in-law, Morris Foster, helps mount a sink in one of the bathrooms.
On Tuesday, Wintergreen’s Winery took advantage of the beautiful weather and had friends of the winery along with skilled carpenters and plumbers to help finish up some of the final items remaining before the doors officially open.
Some of the folks on hand Tuesday enjoyed a picnic style lunch outside in the fantastic weather. The Verandah is seen off in the background.
Jeff Stone chats just outside The Verandah with one of his suppliers on the phone Tuesday afternoon.
Read much more about the addition in our upcoming April issue of Nelson County Life Magazine out at the end of this month.

Nelson County, Virginia
There wasn’t a corner left to stand in Saturday night at Wintergreen Winery’s Wine & Cheese Pairing event. It’s one of several held during the winter months at the winery located at the base of the mountain on your way up to Wintergreen Resort.
Allen Cash & wife, Cheryl Tompkins-Cash (owner of Stoney Creek Pharmacy) enjoy a well deserved and relaxing evening at the pairing!
Guests were presented with a guided informative tasting of each of the winery’s selected wines paired with domestic and imported artisanal cheeses.
The evening was hosted & presented by owners/vintners Jeff and Tamara Stone.
Guests experienced wine and cheese samplings of ten hand crafted wines paired with over a dozen different cheeses.
Another wine & cheese pairing is scheduled at the winery on March 6, 2010, with their Wine, Chocolate & Roses Valentine Celebration slated for February 13 and 14th.
