Nellysford
Nelson County, Virginia
By Tommy Stafford

It was back in the late 1970′s, perhaps around 1980 when a friend of mine named Burnie, and I, discovered Blenheim Ginger Ale. At the time I lived in West Tennessee. We had the idea to buy and distribute the popular ginger ale back then. We never did become a distributor, but we did have a case or two shipped to us from the original bottling company. We fell in love with it. It was the real thing! And some of it hot! Very hot! Seems like the name of one of the varieties back then was Old #3. Enough said! Charles Kuralt, Food Network, and a host of others have done stories on Blenheim over the years.

Over 20 years passed and I rediscovered Blenheim Ginger Ale one day when Yvette and I were driving up the east coast. Right there at South of The Border we found Blenheim Ginger Ale for sale stacked on pallets. We bought as much as we could. The years passed and we lost track of Blenheim once again. Until now!

One of the Blenheim varieties now on sale at Ambrosia in Nellysford, Virginia.

Recently Yvette was telling Sherry Wheeler, the owner of Ambrosia about the highly popular, but seldom able to find, ginger ale. Sherry called them up and now sells it right here in Nelson County!

All I can say, is you have to try it. It’s the real thing. Sherry only has two varieties at the moment but will have more in stock soon!

This is also a fantastic website to learn more about Blenheim Ginger Ale. It’s not the actual bottling company, but this person has done a great job on chronicling the history of Blenheim.
