On cue the snow fell the night before. Pretty good timing to signal the official end of the Nelson Farmers Market Coop in Nellysford for the 2011 season. We told you about the 2011 kickoff here. Braving gusty northerly winds and cold temps, workers were busy after this past Saturday’s market taking the tents down until next year. Nelson County Life Magazine is one of several sponsors of the music events held each Saturday at the market.

The market was originally founded back in 1997 and has been going strong ever since!

After a long Winter’s hibernation Saunders’ Farm Market in Piney River is back open for the season. Actually they opened the doors the last day or two of May, but it’s this time of year when things begin hopping as the peaches start coming in!

Music is sometimes played at the market on the weekends and is a favorite for folks dropping by!

According to the Saunders’ website, the peaches are starting to get ripe around June 16th.
