As summer winds down people from all over look forward to the annual Montebello Community Market Day. The 2010 Market Day was held this past Sunday. Perfect weather complimented the event.

In addition to the fire department displays, all sorts of food and crafts were available.

The annual event is a benefit for the Montebello Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company.

Hamburgers on an outdoor grill are always a favorite!

Many vendors were on hand showing off their crafts.

Thanks to Paulette Albright for this photo of a medical helicopter coming in for a landing at the community market. That was one of the highlights of the day too!

One day. This youngster checks out one of the Montebello Fire Trucks at Community Market Day.

Wintergreen Fire and Rescue had their uber modern Mobile Command Center on hand for people to take a look.

Thes youngsters have mastered the fire trucks and are now Junior Firemen. And women!

Montebello Community Market Day is held each Labor Day Weekend in Montebello, Virginia just off of the Blue Ridge Parkway. It’s located at the intersection of route 56 & 667 in Nelson County. Exit milepost 27 from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Or, take Route 56 W (Crabtree Falls Highway) to Montebello.

Montebello’s Community Market Day each September always signals the final days of Summer. Our Paul Purpura traveled south down the BRP to grab some shots at the 2009 event. Lots to eat and see!

There's always plenty of arts and crafts at the Market Day.

The displays sprawl out from the firehouse onto the lawn.

And the food, always yummy!

Montebello Community Market Day is a way for folks to come out and have a day of fun!

The firetrucks, ambulances and rescue vehicles are always a big hit with the kids and adults!

Rescue anf Fire personell get a chance to meet locals and visitors.

Time to put the white pants and skirt up after today! Labor Day generally is recognized as the unofficial end to Summer as minds turn to football and school. That didn’t stop people from having a great time over the three day weekend that winds up today as many folks prepare for the trip back home.

All kinds of events took place in Nelson this weekend, with the vineyards, breweries, resort and more busy, busy!

A relaxing Sunday at Afton Mountain Vineyards during their Labor Day weekend event. Great wine, great food, and great entertainment!
