Packed house. That’s the only way to describe the March 6th RVCC Community Market and Pancake Breakfast. February’s event was canceled due to all of the snowfall across Nelson. But, with the sun shining and temps headed toward the 50’s it was a perfect days for people to get out!

The indoor market is a winter alternative that started a few years back to give folks a place to go during the cold months while the Nelson Farmers Market is in hibernation.

The regular outdoor farmers market held in Nellysford begins in May.


The Lovingston Indoor Farm Market will be held later this month on March 20th in the Nelson Center.

As the dog days of Summer set in, area Nelson Farmers Markets continue doing a brisk business.

With abundant rainfall this year area farmers are reporting a fantastic harvest. That means when you visit the farmers markets you have plenty to choose from, and fresh! The Nelson Farmers Market Co-op continues this weekend and all other weekend until October, as does the Schuyler Community Farmers’ Market in Eastern Nelson County.


The Schuyler Community Farmers' Marlet kicked off in May of this year and continues to be highly successful.

The Schuyler Community Farmer’s Market operates Saturdays from 9A-12P, including live music, free coffee, locally grown veggies, baked goods and crafts. The market is on the lot of Walton’s Mountain Museum.


The Nelson Farmers’ Market Co-op is open from 8 am to 12 noon. The market is located in Nellysford at the entrance to Stoney Creek. There is also a Wednesday market at the Nelson Center in Lovingston from 3:00 PM until 7:00PM each week.

With just a hint of rain in the air, Nelson’s newest farmers’ market kicked off this past Saturday morning. The Schuyler Community Farmers Market joins other area markets like the one in Nellysford that started its season last weekend.

The market featured items produced by local farms, baked goods, handmade crafts, art work including jewelry, photography, woodworking and more.

The first weekend of May always brings out a crowd, and when it coincides with the opening of the Nelson Farmers’ Market, it’s an even bigger crowd. The 2009 season of the market officially got underway this past Saturday. The market is held each Saturday until October.

Starting Wednesday a new version of the market will be opening in Lovingston as well, right next door to the Nelson Memorial Library.


Many other area markets will kick off this coming week as well, including the brand new Schuyler Community Farmers’ Market on May 9th.
