Nelson County, Virginia Sheriff, David Brooks says 55 year old Darrell Ramsey of Tyro, Virginia has been charged with multiple felony counts.

Many people reported seeing helicopters flying low in Nelson County late last month. The choppers were part of an annual eradication program involving The VA State Alcohol Beverage Commission, State Police and The Nelson County Sheriff’s Department. One of the largest finds by lawmen was on August 24th in Tyro, Virginia. “We found over a hundred plants there in addition to several gallons illegal alcohol,” says Nelson County, VA Sheriff, David Brooks. Sheriff Brooks says Darrell Ramsey of Tyro has been charged with 3 different violations, all felonies. Two involving the growing and distribution of marijuana, another involving a firearm.

Sheriff Brooks says the eradication program is held each summer to find and destroy marijuana being grown primarily in overgrown remote areas of the county.
