For the second year in a row, The Rockfish Valley Community Center will again be selling Christmas Trees over the next few weeks. On location sales kick off starting Saturday – November 28th @ 9AM.

Hard to belive in just a few short weeks Santa arrives! Folks are getting in the spirit with Wintergreen Nature Foundation’s 11th Annual Festival of Trees. The event runs though next weekend allowing people the chance to actually bid on the trees, wreaths and other Christmas decorations they like.

The Trillium House (headquarters for The Wintergreen Nature Foundation) has been beautifully decorated for the upcoming Chrstmas season.

People can bid on the trees, centerpieces or wreaths until 2PM - November 28, 2009

The Wintergreen Nature Foundation exists to encourage the understanding, appreciation, and conservation of the natural and cultural resources of the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia. The Foundation functions as a research and education facility for its members and visitors, and serves as a host site for regional and national conservation efforts.

It wasn’t just skiing this past weekend up on the mountain. Our Paul Purpura grabbed this shot of the huge Christmas tree in the courtyard at Wintergreen Resort. In a ceremony where Paul says nearly 300 people showed up they lit the tree, sang Christmas carols, and Santa Clause even made and early appearance as the tree was lit.

The annual lighting of the tree in the valley takes place later this week in Stoney Creek.

The Wintergreen Valley Association is having its annual Christmas Tree lighting.

Begins at 5:45 p.m.
Folks gather in the Stoney Creek parking lot in front of the Stoney Creek Bar & Grill for a Carol sing-a-long, greeting by the WVA President, Pat Siragusa.

The blessing and lighting of the Christmas tree.
Santa Claus arrives on a fire truck at 6:30 to greet children of all ages.

There is a buffet dinner in the Stoney Creek B&G afterwards but you must make reservations. 325-8110. (This is a very popular event so there may not be much availability.)
