The annual Lovingston Christmas parade will be held this weekend. This year’s Nelson County Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade is scheduled for Sunday, December 6, 2009 at 3:00 PM.

The 2009 parade theme is “A Beary Special Christmas.”

This year’s Grand Marshall is BJ Cabbell. BJ played football at NCHS and graduated in 2006. He currently plays for UVA and will graduate in 2010. He is the son of Bobby and June Cabbell.

There will be street vendors with food and beverages.

Ribbons will be awarded in the following categories:
Best Theme Float
Most Entertaining Float
Best Formation Marching Unit
Most Entertaining Marching Unit
Best of Show Horse & Rider
Best of Show Classic Antique Vehicle (1980 and older)
Best of Show Modified Antique Vehicle (1980 and older)
Best of Show Fire Unit
Best of Show Rescue Unit
Judges Choice Award

The temperatures were very cold, and the wind was howling, but folks braved the blustery weather to make it to the 2008 Nelson Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade. Our special thanks to Connie Miller for sharing her photos with us. Our photographer was there and we’ll have many more photos posted in the coming days!

The Nelson County High School Marching Governors Band takes to the street in Sunday's Christmas Parade.

In spite of the very cold temperatures, the floats were flawless, and the crowds excited!

This year’s parade theme was Inside Santa’s Workshop.

The annual Nelson County Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade is scheduled for Sunday, December 7, 2008.

The parade will begin at 3pm in the southern end of the village of Lovingston and travel up Front Street, ending at the Farm Bureau Insurance Building where Santa will receive visitors.

This year’s parade theme is “Inside Santa’s Workshop.”

There will be street vendors with food and beverages.

Parade applications and additional information are available by calling Sherri Brooks at 434-263-8178 or emailing: smb9k@aol.com.

There is no entry fee; however, applications are necessary to establish a parade roster.
