Camp Holiday Trails, a camp for children with special health needs in Charlottesville, Virginia, is pleased to announce Chainsaw Day on March 19th, 2011. In preparation for spring, Camp Holiday Trails needs help clearing brush and fallen trees. The cut wood will be used during our Summer Camp programs for campfires. This is a BYOC – Bring Your Own Chainsaw – event, and sawing will commence at 10 am and will wind down around 12 noon with some hot drinks. Volunteers can take some firewood home.

Oakland Museum will present “A Tribute to Curtis Matthews,” an old time and bluegrass music concert celebrating the life of Nelson County’s most influential banjo picker, on Saturday, March 19, at 7:30 p.m. at Nelson County High School auditorium.
Among the featured musicians who will be playing with Matthews are Jimmy Fortune of Statler Brothers fame, David Matthews, Tom Proutt, Eddie Witt, The Little Mountain Boys, The Country Ramblers, Ral Satterwhite, R.E. Simpson and the Allen Family Band. Jimbo Cary will be the emcee.
Tickets will be available in advance at the Nelson County Visitors Center in the Nelson Memorial Library building on US 29 in Lovingston for $10. Tickets will be $15 at the door.
