Despite Irene – Weekend Events Went On Here In Nelson
Photos By Paul Purpura, NCL Mountain Photographer: Cyclists take to the road at the Devils Backbone Mountain Cross – a 66 mile road race this past Saturday morning (8.27.11) before the rains from Hurricane Irene settled in later that day.

In spite of threatening skies lots of people still weathered the rain and took past in several of the events going on in Nelson County this past weekend. Devils Backbone held their Mountain Cross this past Saturday morning. It’s was a 66 mile race across the hills of Nelson County.
Later in the day people dropped by for SummerFest @ Devils Backbone featuring; Baaba Seth, Matt Horn & Friends, Downbeat Project, and Olivarez Trio.
Up the road in Afton, people relaxed in between rain showers awaiting the performance of The Steel Wheels who played later in the evening Saturday.
Labor Day Weekend is up next! Lots more to do over that holiday here in Nelson!
