Nelson County Sheriff David Brooks confirms to NCL late Wednesday night that his department’s investigation into the crime scene on Dark Hollow Lane was a murder / suicide. “This was a very tragic scene involving a husband and wife,” Sheriff Brooks said. The sheriff said an autopsy will be performed on Thursday, but it appears a clear cut murder suicide with a handgun.

Details and identities will be officially released at a later time as the investigation continues.

Earlier post from initial information @ 5:15 PM EDT:
Nelson County Sheriff, David Brooks, along with deputies and investigators are currently working a scene on Dark Hollow Lane in Southern Nelson County just outside of Roseland.

Information is very preliminary as of this post, but Nelson Sheriff David Brooks has confirmed to NCL that the initial call to police “involved a gun and 2 people down.” NCL observed two rescue units, one from Wintergreen and the another from Roseland, make the scene, but left minutes later when it became apparent that deputies would be working the scene for several hours to come.

THIS FAMILY IS HAVING A HARD ENOUGH TIME DEALING WITH WHAT HAPPEN…. IT REALLY MAKES ME MAD KNOWING THAT THEY HAVE TO HEAR RUMORS AND WATCH IT ON THE NEWS. I WAS KIN TO ONE OF THE VICTIMS AND ITS JUST NOT RIGHT THAT THE NELSON COUNTY POLICE CANT KEEP THERE MOUTH SHUT TO THE 13NEWS. THE KIDS OF THE VICTIMS ARE SUFFERING ENOUGH THEY DONT NEED TO SEE THIS ON TV……

PLEASE KEEP THE FAMILY’S IN YOUR PRAYERS AS THEY ARE SUFFERING WITH THIS……

Editor’s Note: In defense of the sheriff’s department, the initial information released & reported by a television news outlet did not come from the sheriff’s department or from Sheriff David Brooks. The headline in their story was changed within an hour once the apparent error in the nature of the headline was discovered.

  8. Bridgett Viar says:

Well its funny how the police department and the family was the only ones who knew about a few things that the family didnt release to anyone but the police………. so who released it but whatever………….. its hard enough dealing with this we dont need to see it on the news to and 13 just dont know how to stay away when someone tells them to……. 13 is sick minded is what i think. Dont they think this is hard enough, the kids and other family members does need a news crew in there face or see it all over the news…. This has hurt the family in so many different ways and they dont need to feel like people are trying to shove it in their face by having it all over the news………………….. I Guess Some People Just Dont Understand What This Is Putting Everyone Through….
Thanks To Everyone Who Is Supporting The Family!
Please Keep this family in your thoughts and prayers as they are suffering with this….
