Winter Storm Watch Begins Late Tonight : 1.29.10 : Updated @ 8AM
Nelson County, Virginia
An advancing winter storm is on track to affect Nelson and much of Central Virgina south and east. A Winter Storm Watch goes into effect later tonight and will likely be upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning once the snow is immanent. Winter Storm Warnings for heavy snow are already in effect in neighboring Amherst and counties south.
There is still some discrepancy on the amount of snow we will see, but a general consensus of 5-8″ or here in the Nelson area seems reasonable as of Friday morning. It is VERY important to stress that a movement north or south of the approaching low that will provide the steam for this storm, can greatly affect snow totals. As the day unfolds Friday the picture will become clearer and even more accurate predictions will become possible.
