First it was red light cameras. Then they added speed cameras, both fixed then mobile positions. More money! Montgomery County MD issued roughly $2 million in speed camera citations last year. I agree it's about revenue, but it gives me the willies. Freedom of movement? Is that a human right? The Board of Supervisors unanimously approved an ordinance on August 5, 2009 to implement the “photo red” system at the following locations: Rio Road and U.S. 29 Hydraulic Road and U.S. 29 U.S. 250 (Richmond Road) and Route 20 (Stony Point Road) 121 violations were recorded during a single 12-hour study of the Rio Road intersection on June 29. Like it or not, cameras that capture the identity of vehicles running red lights are coming to three busy intersections in Albemarle County.
