Thankfully it was only a practice run, but it was practice that often gets put to use. Thanks to our Paul Purpura for grabbing these photos!
Several area rescue squads along with Wintergreen F&R and The Virginia State Police practiced their techniques earlier this week at 20 Minute Cliffs and Raven’s Roost. “It’s a joint effort training with the state police search & rescue and dive recovery team, along with the park services. Working with these guys is helping us be more proficient in case a real rescue was to happen. It also generally strengthens our skills as well,” says Jared McNeal with Wintergreen Fire & Rescue.

I am a retired librarian writing a children’s story that has quite a few photos in it. I need one for the story of a rescue squad. The photo above by Paul Purpura of the squad members preparing to repel the rock faces along the BRP would work very well. How do I obtain permission to use it?
