Stepping Back In Time: A Batteau’s Maiden Voyage
Join Captain Brian Roberts on the maiden voyage of his new hand-crafted batteau! Explore a section of the James River, from Howardsville to Scottsville on this historic-style vessel. Enjoy a gorgeous day on the river, amazing geologic features and one of the few original batteau sluices left on the river as Brian and his crew share their experience with batteau history and the boat-building process. Sit back and relax or take a turn at the poles; either way don’t miss this one-of-a-kind opportunity. Bring plenty of water, a bagged lunch and snacks, and wear shoes that can get wet. $85 members, $95 non-members. Register by May 29.
